so it begins

it was all jesse's idea: the blog.
i-of course-will be the one to keep it up.
regardless, here is the premise:
we have made an attempt, after 10 years of 'dating' (dating means living together, but to my mother's dismay not getting married and to j's mother's dismay, no kids) to start Date Night. the purpose of this was for each of us to make a point to spend time together each week with just eachother...a proper date, i guess.

tonight was not the first (fifth i believe) but we were rather pleased with ourselves for making it this far.  then, at dinner, we overheard other couples' conversations, which just fed the concept.
so, Date Night is typically thursday, but tonight was an exception. next week we'll start in full swing, but today is a good jumping off point.

mood: j was grumpy and didn't want to think about work. i was blabbing about work incessantly.
place: magnolia in pasadena
vibe: seemed sort of crowded for a wednseday. lots of girls snacking on french fries and wine or barely-post-college kids buying overpriced drinks.
eats: yummy, but we were definitely hungry when we left.  in all fairness, we should have ordered an appetizer, because we were both really hungry when we got there.
scenery: waiters were cute, tight black shirt type. j thought they were sleezy. were the situation reversed, i probably would have said the same thing.
